What an unexpected and iconic game this was! On a cool evening, the Ulink Vapour played a friendly game of Ultimate Frisbee with the Nanmo Lions (南洋模范) at home. The game commenced with the opening pull.
At first, the more experienced players of the Vapour led the team’s newer players onto the field for the game to begin. However, their cooperation wasn’t quite enough to break down the hard defense of the Lions. After trying again, UCS Vapour resolved to position their veterans at the back, allowing younger players to remain in forward positions, anticipating a catch in the end zone to score. Despite the employment of this tactic, the Vapour found themselves trailing the Lions by 2 points.
Later, the home team clawed their way back into the game with a demonstration of their strong technical skills. They employed a variety of technical moves, such as an inside-out and a revolution swing, which had been practiced in training sessions ahead of the game. Towards the end of the match, there was some disagreement related to the scoring of points. However, these were resolved in the end.
The event came to its conclusion with two rounds of women’s matches, in which UCS Vapour scored 2 points to restore parity. After the game, the teams came together to partake in a jelly roll—both teams huddled in a circle to listen to their captains address the players for a final time.
